Even the most dedicated of food lovers can find it tricky to keep on top of all the comings and goings in the restaurant world, particularly in a city as busy as London. But for those of us who love eating out and the chance to try the latest new opening, getting in early is often wise – after all, when restaurants first open for their soft launch, to iron out any issues before officially throwing open their doors, they'll sometimes mark down their prices to both entice us in and compensate for any teething problems. The offers can last as short as a few days or weeks, but the price cuts can be hefty, so it's worth keeping an eye out.

Islington's Upper Street is set to welcome the arrival of Danish-Japanese restaurant Sticks'n'Sushi, which brings us sushi and skewered delights, on 28th September. To celebrate, they're offering 50% off all food during the soft launch – you'll need to sign up on the website for dates and bookings.

Half price tacos? Don't mind if we do. This month, DF Tacos will be giving you just that at all its restaurants – Tottenham Court Road, Shoreditch and Market Halls (Oxford Street, Victoria and Canary Wharf) – until September 15th. It's to mark the release of its new tacos – pick from the likes of hot honey chicken to tamari pork belly. Clapham grill house Franklin and Baines, which opened in February, has an ongoing two for one offer on all the steaks on its grill menu, running on Tuesdays. The section includes its 200g hanger, 250g rump and sirloin, 300g rib-eye and 1kg tomahawk for two. 

During September, Barge East will be offering half price mains from Monday to Wednesday if you eat in its Gardens. Don't let autumn's arrival put you off – they've got covers and heaters throughout to keep you toasty. There's dishes including the bhaji burger; heritage tomato and burrata salad; and classic fish and chips.
