Calling all chocolate-lovers and creative cooks, the ultimate chocolate challenge is back… Luxury chocolate brand Godiva are hosting another competition to find the best chocolate dessert recipe in the UK.
After the chocolate-smothered success of last year’s event, luxury Belgian chocolatier Godiva are delighted to announce they will be holding a second UK Chocolate Challenge in October 2015. The competition is poised to be yet another epic sweet-toothed battle, aiming to find the nation’s best recipe for a chocolate dessert.
The timing for this year’s event is perfect, coinciding with the launch of Godiva’s Mousse Meringue collection, where a portion of the sales will be donated to the Breast Cancer Now charity. As such, the entries this year will all have to feature meringue and something pink, alongside the inevitable mounds of chocolate.
A tricky challenge but, with a fantastic prize up for grabs, it's well worth it if you are tempted to take part. The four finalists will be whisked off for a luxury 5* weekend break to Brussels, while the champion will also have the unique opportunity to visit Godiva’s famous Atelier of Chocolate Innovation. What’s more, their recipe will feature on the menu for a week at top chef, and competition judge, Mark Hix’s London restaurant: Hix Soho.
Think you’ve got the winning recipe up your sleeve? Then don’t delay – all entries must be submitted to Godiva via their website by the 30th September, along with a large landscape photo of the finished dish. Don’t forget, it needs to include meringue, a touch of pink, and the recipe should be complete with timings, servings, ingredients and full method steps.
The judges will be looking for something a bit different, that’s both daring and creative, and celebrates chocolate with real culinary flair. After all the entries are in, the finalists will be selected and invited to the grand final in London on Tuesday 13th October – quite naturally in the middle of National Chocolate Week. The winning dessert, cooked in front of an esteemed judging panel comprising of writer and food critic, William Sitwell; chef and restaurateur, Mark Hix; Godiva’s head chocolatier, Jean Apostolou; and Gizzi Erksine, will be chosen on the day.
So, get those whisks on standby and spatulas at the ready… and good luck!
