Sweet potato chips are a tasty, healthy alternative to the potato. They are a good source of vitamins A, C and B6 and are high in fibre. Also, because sweet potato chips are baked rather than fried, a lot less oil is required to cook them.
1
Preheat the oven to 180°C/gas mark 4
2
Wash and dry the sweet potatoes then cut into wedges
3
Place the wedges onto a tray making sure they aren’t overlapping
4
Drizzle with olive oil and season with a little salt
5
Bake in the oven for around 30-40 minutes until crispy, golden and cooked through
Variations
For a spicy or smoky kick, try adding some cayenne pepper or smoked paprika to the chips before roasting. To make your sweet potato chips more indulgent, try topping them with grated Parmesan or Gruyère cheese.
Serving suggestions
Sweet potato chips make a great accompaniment to Simon Hulstone’s Squid and mackerel burger, while Anna Hansen seasons her sweet potato chips with turmeric, garlic and mustard seeds to go with her Lemon marinated Welsh lamb.
