This week marked the end to the ninth series of Great British Menu, in which the nine chefs who won the regional heats - including five chefs from Great British Chefs site - competed to represent their region at a banquet to honour D-Day veterans at St Paul's Cathedral

For the last eight weeks on Great British Menu we’ve watched twenty four of Great Britain’s finest chefs battle it out. Now nine chefs including five chefs from Great British Chefs site are hoping to represent their region by serving at the special banquet for D-Day veterans at the end of the week. This week (starting 2nd June 2014) we will finally get to see who will go through to cook at St Paul's Cathedral.

Week eight of Great British Menu and it's the turn of chefs from Wales to shine. Marking the 70th anniversary of D-Day, the chefs have to prepare a menu that's worthy of war heroes. Four overall winners will serve veterans at a banquet in London’s magnificent St. Paul’s Cathedral.

Week seven of Great British Menu 2014 finished with the Scottish finals. On Thursday we said goodbye to Neil Rankin, leaving newcomers Jacqueline O'Donnell and Stevie McLaughlin to compete for a chance to serve veterans at a banquet marking the 70th anniversary of D-Day.

Week six of Great British Menu 2014 finished with the North East finals, an episode where both chefs drew from extraordinary personal experiences in order to fulfil the brief. On Thursday we said goodbye to Frances Atkins, leaving three-time GBM veteran Colin McGurran and newcomer Paul Welburn to compete for a chance to serve veterans at a banquet marking the 70th anniversary of D-Day.

Week five of Great British Menu 2014 finished with the London and South East finals, an episode which truly raised the bar for all Great British Menu chefs to come. On Thursday we said goodbye to Adam Byatt, leaving GBM veteran Adam Simmonds and newcomer Tom Sellers to compete for a chance to serve veterans at a banquet marking the 70th anniversary of D-Day.
